LibriVox recording of The Middle of Things, by J.S. Fletcher. Read by Kehinde.

A habitual late night stroll down Markendale Square plunges Viner into the middle of things most mysterious and most perplexing. A murder, an imposter, secret papers, all combine to mystify even the police themselves. Is Hyde as innocent of the crime as he claims? What is the clue of the veiled woman and the diamond ring? Things are not what they seem to be and how can Viner prove the man’s innocence? (Summary by Kehinde)

Subject: Cool story, well read
The story opens with an older lady, Miss Pankridge, lecturing her nephew Viner on how murder and adventure lurk around every corner. He scoffs, but she insists and provides several examples. After she goes to sleep, he takes a walk... into a murder victim. Ah the foreshadowing! :-)

Now Viner and Miss Pankridge are not the sort to let this opportunity go unchecked, they join in the fun of solving this complicated murder mystery.

It was well read, well written, and a fun story overall. Enjoy!

Subject: Excellent
Here is the summary for this audio book from the librivox.org page as it doesn't seemed to have made it's way over her: "A habitual late night stroll down Markendale Square plunges Viner into the middle of things most mysterious and most perplexing. A murder, an imposter, secret papers, all combine to mystify even the police themselves. Is Hyde as innocent of the crime as he claims? What is the clue of the veiled woman and the diamond ring? A really great story and excellent reader. It didn't really lose my attention through the entire story with it's many twists and turns.
